💵 Your rights at work in Ontario

• The general minimum wage in Ontario is $17.95 an hour (since October 1, 2026).
• You have the same rights whether you are paid by cheque, e-transfer or cash: pay at least minimum wage, vacation pay and public holiday pay for most jobs.
• Ask for a pay stub and keep a note of the hours you work.
• Problems with pay? Read Ontario’s guide to the Employment Standards Act, or talk to a free settlement or employment service.

🛡️ Avoid job scams

• ❌ Never pay money to get a job, training or a “work permit” from an employer.
• ❌ Never deposit a cheque from an employer and send part of the money back.
• ❌ Do not share your SIN, bank or passport details until you have a real job offer and know who the employer is.
• ✅ Meet in a public place, and tell a friend or family member where you are going.
