About this calendar
The Tibetan calendar is lunisolar: months follow the moon, a leap month is added about every three years, and some dates are doubled or omitted. These dates are calculated with the Phugpa (Kalachakra) method as described by Svante Janson in Tibetan Calendar Mathematics. For ceremonies, please confirm the exact day with your monastery, Dharma centre or the community organizations, as local practice can differ.
Planning a Losar celebration, monlam or prayer gathering? Post it for free and it will appear in Events, on this calendar and in everyone’s subscribed phone calendars.
